Interweb hopping and HP (spoilers if you have not read the books/watched the movies you nob you)

HP - Snape and DD - WTF indeed
So I came across this pic on Facebook several days back and it just struck home and at the same time made me laugh.

friendzone

Then just now I came across this pic by Lily-Fox on Jen's awesome EPbot blog.

in_another_life__wake_up_by_lily_fox-d415rn1 (would go perfect with the snape friend zone pic)

The above picture made me think of the friend zone pic and how well they go together. I think Lil-Fox's "In Another Life" pic is sweet and lovely and a great piece of fan art and really pulls at the heart and shows what poor old Snape really wanted out of life. A simple life of love like most any of us do. Then a read the comment she posted about her other pic on DA that lead up to her doing this pic and my view of her POV was tarnish rather quickly.

"I'm sorry to disallow comments, but it got out of hand for me. Maybe 8% of them actually abided my "no discussion" request, and not all of them had anything to say about the drawing. I've heard enough about Harry Potter for pretty much the rest of my life. Thanks to everyone who commented thoughtfully!

Spoilers ahead, for all two of you who haven't finished the books.

Before the movies had come out, Kit and I would take turns reading chapters of the Harry Potter books aloud. Snape was my favorite from the start -- I think a lot of us saw that heartbreak coming a mile away. Sirius Black was Kit's favorite as soon as he showed up, and then Rowling killed him. Rowling lost my love when she made my sister cry.

By the sixth book, I had checked out. It felt like a shitty relationship at that point, with nothing but promises of more heartbreak. When the seventh book came out, I read it backwards from the last chapter. I didn't care. I was so angry at Rowling for killing off characters the way she did. I haven't seen the last few movies, and I won't. If I want to feel that bad, I'll just go snort some dijon mustard. I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade -- I respect anybody's Potter love -- but I'm not inviting discussion here, just telling you where I stand.

I feel like Snape deserved better. I know so many writers who love to abuse their babies, to make them suffer. I don't know if they feel like it gives their character depth, but I think that's a stone crock. And yeah, I know life isn't fair, either. When life shits on good people, I find that a pretty cheap shot, too.

Lily Potter and Snape were both martyrs. You ought to have the love you deserve. If you can't have it in this life... maybe the next one."

Well first off you must not know how hard it is for a writer to kill off her characters and how it is essential to do in many stories. I H-A-T-E when characters I love and have grown to know are killed off in any media and story. I also hated when Black was killed off but come on her hun. It sucks that your lil sister cried but that just shows how amazing she is at writing and getting us to care for the characters she created. Speaking of killing off Black...

There is a artical quoting Rowling as how she cried after writing the chapter with Black's death. She was crying so hard that her husband asked her what was wrong. Sadly I can't Google up the artical I read from the Leaky Calderon year and year back but just look up. In fact let me to that for you.

Just pull up a quote from one site we find:
"Sorley Richardson for Publishing News - Why did you have to kill Sirius when it was the best thing that happened to Harry for years?

JK Rowling: We are back to me being a murderer, aren't we? People have asked me this a lot. I have been repeatedly told Sirius was my favourite character, why did he have to die? You can imagine how bad that makes me feel and in fact after I killed Sirius I went on the Internet and somehow stumbled across a fansite devoted entirely to Sirius and I killed him in the last 48 hours, so that wasn't good.

I think you will realise why he had to go in terms of plot when you read the seventh book. It wasn't arbitrary although part of the answer is the one I have given before. It is more satisfying I think for the reader if the hero has to go on alone and to give him too much support makes his job too easy, sorry."

Sadly sometimes it is in the best interest of the story for character to pass on from the tale. Lily-Fox seems to not grasp the meaning behind his and others deaths and thinks that it is just willy nilly take a weapon and begone with them. I mean she really thinks that the writer has no connection for his/her 'cannon fodder'. How tastefully ignorant of her. How can she think that she. her lil sister or any fan has more of a connection to the character then the writer that birthed the wonderful character and world into being?

In writing if no one died then many times there would be no story. Take away Harry's parent's death and we have no Arthurian quest, no coming of age tale. We could say there is no point to write about this world. I might be taking that to its extreme but it is a good example for this. Try and think of any book series that you love and has held you over many thick lovely books. Now how many that are adult or YA books don't have at least one death. I bet like so many they start off with a death that leads the protagonist out onto his/her journey and adventure.

Death in a book/movie what have you sucks but it brings out the emotion in you and helps push the character onwards. Many things are discovered in the death of a character for both you and the protagonist. Life lessons. And we can relate to what is going on. So many things are learned when that happens in a story. It is not a light choice for the writer and no they don't need to take better care of their creations because they are not being fed to the fire with no thought as to why and what is being lost. Ignorance in this girls post at her views has flamed up this post from me. I hate seeing characters die that I connect with (even though I am not a Snape lover like so many out there. It was sad to see him die though).

Here Lily-Fox and all you other similarly narrow minded people let me help point you in the direction of reading up more on why writers must at times lay a charater low.

Great work hun but grow up and mature a little before you say that a person is lax with their beloved characters.

Week 59 (+31) Last couple of weeks could have been a bit better

59
-The number corresponding to the last minute in a given hour, and the last second in a given minute.
-The number on a button commonly worn by feminist activists in the 1970s; this was based on the claim that a woman earned 59 cents to an equally qualified man's dollar.

So This last year or so I've been a slacker in posting. Lazy yeah but also kinda busy with other things. Still wish I was more consistent like I use to be.

So I missed getting my annual blood draw due to the preceding appointment running long and so when I checked the lab they had closed for the day. Been trying to get back in and have yet to have much time. Oy... Later that week dad told me that Tortaro looked like he had a chunk bitten out of his backside when he saw him outside my parent's place. I asked Paul to round him up (since he is the fastest) and bring him on over here so I could get a look at it. He did and when I got a look at it I knew he needed to get in to a vet ASAP.

Pic of his wound after Paul brought him over for me to get a look at.
title or description

Tried our regular vet and they where working on a dog so they could not take him that day so we had to take him to one up on the East side that they recommended. We go there and after all the regular waiting and talking to the techs and the on call vet we ended up paying $215 to get him stabilized and cleaned up a lil bit. Took home some pain killers and antibiotics and a cone. He seemed okay pain wise and in every other aspect except for the massive wound on his backside, that the vet had informed us it looked infected. They wanted us to come back that Monday or hit up our regular vet. So that Monday bright and early we rounded up Tortaro which has been staying with us and stopped by the other vet since they had handled him already. Got there and they had a look at him and said that he was healing so well on his own that they wanted us to just keep and eye on him and his wound to see if it would heal together and scab over without the surgery to pull his wound together and sew it shut.

Some of the pics of his wound healing together.

Another one later one. Don't know why it is so small of a pic. >.>
title or description

Right now it is only a bumpy healed area with a sliver of a cut left to heal with fur growing over most of the old wounded area. I'm so glad.

...I've yet to get back into the doctor to do the blood draw... Oy.

Found a ton of new music and books in the last few weeks. Really diggin' Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons. Heard it on the radio and just loved it. Will have to listen to some of their other stuff and see if I like as well. Also looking into "Dropkick Murphys". They sound better then "Flogging Molly" but not quiet as good as "Enter the Haggis" so who knows. Also heard the new-ish The Ballad Of Mona Lisa by "Panic! At The Disco" and
Help is on the way by "Rise against". I have not really been listening to a ton of mainstream bands much other then the ones I fallow like "Linkin Park" so if these have been out for awhile oh well. lol.

Been spending much more time digging through the alt or indie stuff thx in large part to people at FA posting songs.

Also looking forward to getting my new cell phone and that it is going to be a Android smart phone! :D John got me hooked to Android phones by letting me play with his. I love all the fun and useful aps. Like Shazam that listens to a song that is play on the radio and can tell you the name of the song and band! Helped me tell John what the Panic! At the Disco one was among others. I really like this app. Also I'm kinda addicted to FourSquare so that will be fun to have a phone that can use it. Also gotta love the Google Maps GPS feature! It was such a life saver on the road trip this last year. Also for someone like John that could get lost in a paper bag it really helps. Just click the mic icon and say "Navigate to..." wherever you are going and it will direct you there even with voice directions and will also re-route when you need to go out of the way from its directions like if there is traffic. I also found a app called
doubleTwist that will let me transfer my songs from iTunes to the Android phone! So I won't have to carry both my iPod and my Android phone! Also the camera is better then the one on my old phone and is great since I don't like to lug around my expensive big digital SLR camera with me in my day to day errands. I love this camera app that John found called
Vignette. It allows you to do a ton on the fly pictures changes/visual effects (my fav is toy camera in B&W with a square border). Do I sound like enough of a ad for Android phones yet? LOL! Anyway I'm excited.

Also just saw Rach off for her spring break a-capella trip. Also tried my hand at french braiding her hair for her. Was not to bad, for a first time. Oy, need another hand when doing that. lol.

Anyway school is winding down around here and summer means the road trip so I'll still be busy.

Week 50 (+17)I have been MIA or AFK for ANOTHER 4 weeks

51

-Area 51, a parcel of U.S. military-controlled land in southern Nevada, apparently containing a secret aircraft testing facility.
-The New General Catalogue object NGC 51, a spiral galaxy in the constellation Andromeda.

Been a month since I last posted and it seems like I've been to busy to get around to posting. Or maybe I just didn't make time for it. Eeh well I'm posting now. lol

So I woke up to this when I looked out my window this morning.

I should not be surprised as it was suppose to start snowing on Friday and also snow Saturday which it finally did late that night.

I like snow I really do but, I hate the ice that comes with it. I also hate driving in it and sliding on the roads in it and the wet shoes, socks and pant cuffs. I love to watch it fall and see everything in a clean, white undisturbed sheet. I love to watch animals and kids play in it. I also love that time of year.

Christmas has been one holiday that I always look forward to. My family has never had much and each year it seems less and less for the holidays but it is just a great time of year like something joyous is in the air. I also love buying presents for other people. :D ...I dread getting presents though. I really dislike faking pleasure over them. I know most of the people around me can't get me what I really like and I don't expect them to but I don't want to be cruel and hurtful at the same time.

I also turned 26 this last Friday. I was thinking about grabbing a pic each year on my birthday and so I shot a few and some of the funny ones for that project happened on Saturday and I just love them.

I present you Jessica at 26.

Speaking of Friday I was sad to learn that Linkin Park was coming to Salt Lake (IE less then a miles from my apartment) and tickets went on sale that day and I am broke until later this week. Grrrrrrr Being broke means I'm also celebrating my birthday in a belated manor this coming week. And since I don't want to push John's cooking skills I am going to go a none cooking birthday meal. I'm thinking a pudding pie and a long sub with some finger food sides. Something fun that we cane change here and there to suit our different taste but have the same meal and we can also take it over to watch movies while we munch.

I'm kinda excited because I can pick up three CDs I've been looking forward to. The new ones from Linkin Park and Abney Park and also the Original Sound Track for the Lord of the Rings on Stage (Musical LOTRs)!

There are other things but I really can't recall them.

Other then hitting Ikea up almost each check to pick up some things here and there to slowly organize and change how our place looks and feels and how we can use and enjoy it.

Sadly the Ikea thing is very fun for me and makes me excited to do. lol

JOHN STAY OUT OF THIS POST!!! B-day planning post

^ Like I said John stay out on threat of a ruined birthday surprise!

title or description

LAST WARNING JOHN!

Okay John's birthday is Thursday of this week and since payday is after his b-day all of this is going to be late but as he already knows that matters very lil. I think he is going to really love this idea anyway.

I was thinking over what I could and should get him for his b-day present. I don't recall when this idea formed exactly but I know it started with a very simple idea.

The first thing that popped into my head was to make him a simple Android™ stencil t-shirt.

title or description
As you can see the mascot is simple and very cute/cool.

(Yes I know I might be running this stenciling of t-shirts into the ground for some but I really like it! If you are plus size you know how limited it can be to get cool designed shirts and so this only limits what you have on a shirt by your imagination and or skill, and as we know practice makes perfect. ;D Plus this way you can always get what you want in the color you want. win-win)

But as I was mulling this over I had this funny idea pop into my head. What if I added the Companion Cube from the very funny game Portal and have them be in love. <3>title or description

This is the raw stencil that I'm going to be printing and cutting out so the color is not final and all that will be changed when I put it on the shirt front. (...what color I want the t-shirt I have yet to finalize.)

BUT then I had another idea. What if on the center high on the back (kinda between the shoulder blades area) if I put what I might imagine the offspring of the Android and the Companion Cube *might* look like. LOL! The very idea cracks me up! So back to the web and tons for searches I found a 'evil' looking Droid mock up someone did and modding it heavily with the original and another Companion Cube stencil I came up with a very VERY rough mock up for the bastard offspring of them both.

title or description
The arrows on the face are from my modding and reminders for myself and won't be there and the color and such are going to be modded when I cut and paint it.

So here is my crazy idea. I have some big doubts about the second one for the back but I love the first one and know it will work out fine even it is goes it alone without the back one.

Week 33 (+6) A day late

33

-A normal human spine has 33 vertebrae when the bones that form the coccyx are counted individually.
-Jesus's age when he was crucified in 33 A.D., according to many, though not verified historically.
-Jesus performed 33 miracles.
-33 is not only a numerical representation of “the star of David”, but also the numerical equivalent of AMEN. 1+13+5+14=33
-33 is the coming of age of a hobbit in J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.
-33 is the title of the first episode of the new Battlestar Galactica television series.

Owl City concert photos from the 12th of April Saltair show.

The show was at the old Saltair next to the Great Salt Lake just off of I-80 (also known as Saltair III as the first two incarnations of it burnt down years ago).

Outside the venue as we pulled up.

Gravel parking lot.

This is the first time I've been out to the Saltair. Before I looked up info on it (you can wiki it and flikr it for more pics and info like I did) I thought it would have been much larger and grander then it turned out to be.

It reminded me greatly of driving out to a underground rave in that it is out in the middle of nowhere and alone and if you did not know you'd almost think it was a abandoned building that had see the last of it's glory days. Well not totally but that is what it sort of felt like. It has been remodeled and is a very neat and unique place. Even more so to hold concerts in.

Its is not a very large venue though to see the people line up for the show and that line wrap around the parking lot and out into the surrounding field you would not know it. I'm glad that I had bought our tickets before hand as we did not have to stand out in the rain for two hours hoping to get day of show tickets.

Inside the doors it looks like a gathering hall with a balcony that wraps around three of the four walls. The floor of the Saltair was pathing-stones/brinks. Very cool look I must say. The inside has a very honky tonk bar feel up in the balcony (where they only let the 21 and older be since they serve beer up there). I went up there knowing that I'd have a better view of the stage since I'm so short >.< and the concert was all GA seating.

^ Yeah that is me. See how bloody short I am? lol! Was fun even though we got stuck at the back of the building looking up and over at the stage. Not my fav venue but was really interesting and a better night then I though it was going to be. ( I tend to have a pessimistic view of new things sometimes >.>).

Would of have more but the phone was slowly dying. Also kinda piss because I got chased off the stairs when Owl City came on (they played last after Lights and first was Paper Route) should have snapped a pic before the bouncer chased me off. Oh well.

I think that I'll have to dig around and list more to both Lights and Paper Route. I liked what I could understand and hear from the concert.

Also here is what most of the pictures from the Snow Patrol/Plain White T's Concert back in October of last year looked like. Not going to upload all of them but this one has some good light and is my fav from the bunch.

Okay I lied two pics. This is my fav pic of that night. Paul, me and his girl Celeste outside UVSU where the concert was held.

Week 31 (+5) What I did after I dropped Rach at the Prom Saturday

31

-The number of days in the months January, March, May, July, August, October and December.
-The number of flavors of Baskin-Robbins ice cream and the shops are called 31 Ice Cream in Japan.
-Turkish slang for masturbation ("otuzbir"). (O.o okay...)

So I have not done a picture post in sometime so here are some pics of me doing some stencil work on a couple shirts and some spare cloth I had around that I might make into cuffs.

This is some of the things gathered to get going on the project. Foam brushes, fabric paint, the stencil, the shirt and cardboard to keep the table clean. This stencil is from a company that makes stencils from Stencil1.com. I've always made my own stencils before but I like this stencil when I saw a shirt that someone made at a event that Stencil1 did so I wanted to try it out myself.

Here are a few shots of the finished shirts and the non-sewn cuffs. (Can't tell that I like big baggy t-shirts can you >.> lol)

Here is a pic of the dark grey t-shirt up close. I don't know if you can see how I smudged the stencil in a few places and how it did not come out ac crisp and clean as I wanted. It kinda mad me mad at myself and sad that I felt like I 'ruined' the shirt but I do like how it looks over all and I'm not to mad. My panda stencil shirt got to smears but I still like how it looks and wear it all the time.

Also got the two on the v-neck smeared and off their mark. Oh well lol. That will teach me to do them upside down next time.

Oh well you live and learn as you go and each time you learn something new for the next batch.

If you want one of the wrist bands/cuffs tell me and I'll throw up pictures of them when I'm done with all of them. Then ones in the two pics above are just two colors and not cut down and sewn yet so don't judge them to harshly just yet.

Can't wait as I have another stencil from the company coming in the mail and I'm excited to get started again.

Hair Hair Hair

I've been looking around at hair and wondering what would look good on me. I really like the short hair styles but I can't honestly say that I would look good in a short hair style. /sad panda >.<

Honest to God I would love to do a short spiked hair similar to these. Though I doubt that I could pull this off at all. Even more with my boy-ish clothing style. Maybe if I was much slimmer.

I really do like this style. I like the look of these so called 'emo' bangs. I think I will go with a similar style to this but with shoulder lenght hair. Also with hi-lights.

What do you think? I want to here your $0.02 on this. Anyone know the cost for this kinda thing?

This will be a laugh

So just just got done reading my whole new yoga book (2 hours XD). It came two or so days ago and I just now had the time to pour over it.

I think the warm-up has more hard looking positions then the work out itself. Things like "cat and dog tilt", "table", "downward facing dog" and "dolphin". Most of the things that have you go from your knees to a bent on fours seems like it is going to be 'fun' for me.

I really look forward to things like "warrior 1", "warrior 2", "5 pointed star" and "goddess". Also when I get more strength I want to to the yoga "handstand". Looks freaky and I sooo want to try it.

You get started on a 30 min program and from what poses you do in it I'm kinda sadden as it does not have many of the standing positions in it that I wanted to try. Oh well I guess that I'll just have to work my way up to the longer program and them.

So I'm going to be starting tomorrow morning with the 30 min program.

I will update on this and how it goes. lol.

So today I finally got around to dragging John to the barber. I think from the below picture you will agree with me that it was needed.

I had it chopped to a number 2 which is hella short. Reason he is a wash-n-ware kinda guy that could not give a crap about his hair as you might take from the first pic of him. He is just washed not even combed/brushed hence the shaved head.

Also I just thought that this was a funny sight while I was out a couple of days ago running errands in the early morning before the start of the day.

Come on its a UPS truck doing a drop off to a FedEx Kinko's. What is up with that? O.o Weird.

Conceptual Design

I really love conceptual design and any design ideas really. I think it comes from both wondering how and why things are done by people (the sociologist and psychologist in me) and creation of writing and art. Both of the later are all about creating a thing, person or place for your audience to see. For a while there in my teen I also thought about being a architect, that is until I found out that it was math heavy any that is a weak spot for me.

Anyway I love watching documentaries and behind the scenes and how-toes on DVDs and such. You know the uber long Matrix package with all the back story stuff and how they did it and hod like days worth of extras in it. Well that kinda of thing is for people like me.

Anyone remember or know about the book "How things Work"? I loved looking through the copy John got when I was a kid and knew it forwards and backwards when it was used as a teaching aid in my 8th grade science class.

Anyway I digress into what I wanted to post about.

So I like concept and design I love seeing concept sketches and rough drafts. Things that let me get inside a person's head and see what first came to mind and how it evolved into the finished product. I also love when people use thing in a new and exciting way.

For example have to seen those car seat buckle belts that people have fashioned into regular pants belts and buckles?

First time I remember seeing them was on some skaters at school and then when I went looking for them (I do this a lot go and seek info out on things that intrigue me and catch my eye or mind) in a skate clothes and parts catalog. The back story on them that I found many years back was that some people had stolen airplane belts or extension belts and mad them into regular belts for your pants. Like these. Not something you see everyday and thus catches my mind.

So when I saw another blogger wearing his shoulder messenger bag the clasp caught my eye.

It is a car belt buckle clasp. Neat idea! They are made by Chrome. Also I love messenger bags. There are just so many neat designs.

Sad thing is it comes in limited colors and I'll be saying for it for a few months at this rate. *sigh*

Anyway I just wanted to share my intriguing find (hey you I see you rolling your eyes) and also have this act as a reminder for me (yes I do do that a lot with my blogs).

This is me

In bed eyes open
Like it says above this is me. Don't be scared I don't bite...hard. Yeppers now you know who to put that mark out for the hit on me. Some of the pics I really really do like... and that is odd for me as I DO NOT like my picture taken. So are ehhh whatever. Still this is a rare thing for me to post up pics of me.

I always have a odd feeling like people will judge me for what I look like (and lets face that all plus size people have that tick >.> oh well lol) . Anyway take a gander.

So have at and enjoy or not. I do lol.

Yeah I just noticed I have a tendency to tilt my head and yes most are in the my car... that tends to happen when you are a taxi service to your sibs and run errands more then anything else lol.
